This magnificent Victorian building is the former residence of Sir William Gilbert, the writing half of the Gilbert and Sullivan partnership. The exciting yet traditional menu offers something for everyone with vegetarian options always available. Gilbert's are pleased to cater for those guests requiring special diets. Soft piano music adds to the ambiance, while you enjoy your meal and your company. Through the great panelled doors off the grand entrance hall you'll find the Library Bar. This was the library where Gilbert wrote some of his most well known works, and also where he created his last 2 operettas in collaboration with Sullivan. A huge fireplace once stood in place of the bar, which still features the copper surround Gilbert had installed. This peaceful room looks out onto the croquet lawn, terrace and gardens. Surrounding Grim's Dyke Hotel is one of its most spectacular features, the grounds, an enchanting mix of wild woodland and formal gardens. Close by you will find a croquet lawn along with the kitchen gardens, beehives and Victorian greenhouses that supply the restaurant. If you venture further into the woods you can find the now empty boating lake, fringed with azaleas.
